AmerisourceBergen Elects Jane E. Henney, M.D. to Its Board of Directors

The election expands the AmerisourceBergen board from eight to nine members.

Dr. Henney currently is Senior Scholar in Residence at the Association of Academic Health Centers in Washington, D.C. Prior to this appointment, she was Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 1998 through 2001. She was also Deputy Commissioner for Operations at the FDA from 1992 to 1994.

She is a medical oncologist and has held several posts at the National Cancer Institute, including Deputy Director from 1980 to 1995. Her past academic positions include Vice President for Health Sciences at the University of New Mexico and Vice Chancellor of Health Programs and Policy at the University of Kansas.

Dr. Henney is a frequent lecturer on a variety of healthcare subjects, and has received many honors and awards in her field.

Dr. Henney received her Bachelor of Science degree from Manchester College, North Manchester, Indiana, and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. Her graduate medical education includes a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Department of Developmental Therapeutics at M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston, Texas.
